Hello everyone! It's been a while~
여러분! 오랜만이에요~
I've been living in Japan for a good 4 months now, so I figured that it would be appropriate to give a LIFE UPDATE!
So I landed in Nagoya, Japan for on March 24 for my Orientation Training, and I was there for 6 days. I was lucky to be there while the sakura flowers were in bloom.
제가 3월24일에 오리엔테이션을 위해 나고야에 도착했고, 6일동안 있었어요. 운 좋게, 벚꽃이 피어 있을때 있었어요.
It had been almost a decade since I last saw so many sakura trees. I was so excited xD There was this small little park near the hotel I was staying at where all the trees were sakura trees. This was my kind of aesthetic! xD
이렇게 많은 벚꽃이 피어있는 것 본지 거의 10년인 거 같아요. 너무 신났어요 ㅋㅋ 제가 있는 호텔 주변에 작은 공원있었는데, 나무가 다 벚꽃나무였는데, 너무 이뻤어요~
O.T was.....tough xD There was so much information that I definitely did not absorb as much as I should have. Most days, half of what was said after lunch just went over my head.
오티는....힘들었어요 ㅋㅋ 배운것이 너무 많아서, 다 흡수하지 못 했어요 ㅠㅠ 특히 점심 다음에 ㅋㅋ
I had a lot of fun though! I met a lot of interesting people :) There was only one other person going to the same place I was (...and when I got here, I found out there are only 3 of us here xD)
근데 재밌었어요! 많은 사람 만났고~ 저랑 같은 곳으로 가는 사람은 1명밖에 없었어요 ㅋㅋ (그리고 여기 오니깐, 우리 3명 밖에 없어요 ㅋㅋ)
Though I do need to work on my social skills. Out of all those people, I only talked to a few people....which is better than being completely anti social xD
근데 전 친화력을 좀 키워야겠어요...그 많은 사람 중에 몆 명이랑만 말했는데....뭐 아예 안 한 것 보다는 났죠 ㅋㅋ
I also got to meet Miyuu!
그리고 미유짱도 만났어요~
We first met online a few years ago and we finally got to meet up!
몇 년전에 온라인에서 만난 친군데, 드디어 만나게 됬어요~
We got some Miso Katsu for dinner. Apparently it's very famous in Nagoya, so Miyu found a popular miso katsu place. To me it tasted like black bean xD Not that it was bad! It was pretty good~
저녁은 미소 카츠! 미유 말로는 나고야엔 미소 카츠! 라고 해서 맛집으로 갔어요. 약간 짜짱 맛이었는데 맛있었어요~
I was also able to squeeze in some window shopping during this Nagoya adventure.
그리고 재밌는 아이쇼핑도 했어요~ ㅋㅋ
I also had some good food. I also bought a hanko! I've never had a name stamp before, so it was really interesting to have to get one.
맛있는 음식도 많이 먹었고, 도장도 샀어요! 도장 사는 게 처음이어서 신기했어요 ㅋㅋ

And so, after an exhausting 5 days of O.T, I left Nagoya the next morning. It took about 3 hours to get from Nagoya to Nishiwaki.
5일 동안 힘들게 오티가고, 다음 날 아침 떠났어요. 나고야에서 니시와키까지 가는 게 3시간 정도 걸렸어요.
That's ~3 hours WITH the bullet train! It was quite a long trip xD
신칸센 타고도 3시간! 꿰 먼 거리였어요 ㅋㅋ
So in case you don't remember from my last post, Nishiwaki is this small inaka town in Hyogo prefecture.
전 글에 썼는데, 니시와키는 효고에 있는 작은 시골이에요.
Prior to coming here, I knew that Nishiwaki was a small town....but I definitely wasn't expecting to see so much nature xD
오기 전에 시골이란 걸 알았는데....이렇게 자연속에 살 줄은 몰랐어요 ㅋㅋ
There's a mountain behind, in front of, to the left of, to the right of my apartment complex. I don't think I've ever seen so many mountains in one place before xD
제 아파트 뒤에, 앞에, 왼쪽, 오른쪽에 산만 있어요. 생에 이렇게 많은 산은 처음 본거 같야요 ㅋㅋ
There's a river that runs near my apartment complex. And the there are rice paddies everywhere xD It's a very quite, relaxing town though. I'm loving all the green~ I'm definitely a lot more relaxed here than I was back in California. Being around all this nature, I don't think it's possible to be stressed too long xD
그리고 주변에 강도 있고요...쌀 밭도 얼마나 많은지 ㅋㅋ 진짜 조용하고 편안한 동네예요. 푸른생이 너무 보기 좋아요~ 여기와서 너무 편하게 지내고 있어요. 이 자연속에 스트레스 받을 일이 없어요 ㅋㅋ
I was able to seem some cherry blossoms in Nishiwaki, so I was really happy about that.
니시와키에서도 벚꽃~~ 너무 이뻤어요.
I keep mentioning my apartment, and I would love to show you what it looks like...but it's quite the mess at the moment xD I try to keep it clean, but sometimes I just get lazy with the cleaning, you know? xD I live in a small apartment that is pretty decent for someone who's living on her own. I have a lot of room, because I really didn't bring a lot of stuff.
계속 아파트 얘기해서 사진 보여줘야되는데...청소를 안 해서 안됩니다~ ㅋㅋ 제 아파트가 작은데 혼자 살기에는 좋은 사이즈인 거 같아요. 물건이 많이 없어서 그런지, 자리가 많아요~ ㅋㅋ
I chose to have my company find an apartment for me and I was given a furnished apartment. This is probably why my rent is on the expensive side...but I can't really complain. Just thinking about if I had to buy all my furniture gives me anxiety. It'd be such a pain to move out too...
전 회사가 아파트 찾는 걸로 했는데, 가구 있는 아파트 받게 됐어요. 그래서 그런지, 집값이 좀 비싼 편이에요 ㅠㅠ 근데 뭔 다 있는데 큰 불만은 없어요 ㅋㅋ 스스로 가구를 사야했으면 얼마나 힘들었을까 ㅠㅠ 생각만해도 싫어요 ㅋㅋ 이사 갈때도 얼마나 힘들까...
Anyway, I digress xD

While I can't show you my whole apartment, I can at least show you my room xD
아파트 다 못 보여주지만, 방은 보여줄께요 ㅋㅋ
Ta-dah~ I wanted to keep my decor simple, but I gave into the temptation to decorate!
짜잔~ 심플한 디자인으로 놔두고 싶었는데 ㅋㅋ 너무 꾸미고 싶었어요~
It just wouldn't feel like my home if I didn't have some color xD

Like I said, my apartment is a bit on the expensive side, but I can't really complain. It is a furnished apartment with a TV and a washing machine. The location is really nice too. There are a some stores within walking distance, which is really important because I can only use my car to go to and from work. I've been getting a lot of exercise with all the walking I have to do xD
집 값이 비싼데, 다 있어서 뭐 큰 불만이 없어요. 티비있고, 세탁기도 있어요. 위치도 좋아요. 걸어 갈 수 있는 거리에 있는 가게가 몇 개 있어요. 이게 제일 중요해요! 왜냐면, 저는 일 갈때만 차 쓸 수 있어요ㅠㅠ 그러니깐 이게 필수에요! 밥은 사야될꺼 아니에요 ㅠㅠ ㅋㅋ 이렇게 많이 걸어 다녀서 운동은 많이 되고 있어요 ㅋㅋ
Now let me tell you about my new job :) Like I said in my last post, I work in Taka-cho.

It's about a 30-45 minute drive from Nishiwaki. Take is a lot smaller than Nishiwaki and is actually made up of three different towns: Yachiyo, Naka, and Kami. I work in Kami, which is the furthest from Nishiwaki.
니시와키에서 30-45분 거리에요. 니시와키보다 훨씬 작고, 원래 3개에 소도시에요: 야치요, 나카, 그리고 카미. 이 3군대가 합쳐서 타카가 된거에요. 저는, 니시와키에서 제일 먼, 카미에 일해요
I teach Kindergarten to Junior High....which is a much bigger range that I had imagined xD I work at 1 kindy: Kidsland Kami, 2 elementary schools: Matsui ES & Sugiharadani ES, and 1 junior high: Kami JHS. Kami is my main school and I'm there 4 times a week.
유치원부터 중학교에 일해요.....생각보단 큰 범위ㅋㅋ 저는 유치원 1, 초등하교 2개, 그리고 중학교 1에 일해요. 중학교가 제 메인 학교예요.
I am absolutely loving my job! My kids are so sweet and so so soooooooo cute~ I originally worried about working in junior high because I don't like junior high kids xD They're going through all those emotions and they have their problems. My experience with 12-15 year olds has never been that great, but maybe it's because we're in such a small countryside town, but these junior high kids are so freakin' cuteeeee. I've never seen teenagers get so excited about getting stickers xD
저는 제 직업이 너~~~~~~무 좋아요~ 애들이 너무 사랑스럽고, 너무너무너~~~~무 귀여워요~ 사실, 제가 중학에 별로 일하고 싶지는 않았어요. 중딩들이 무섭잖아요 ㅋㅋ 그 사춘기.... ㅋㅋ 근데 여기가 너무 시골이라서 그런지, 애들이 너무 순진 순순해요~ 얼마나 귀여운지♡♡♡ 아니 그 나이에 스티커를 받는 걸 그렇게 좋아하면 어떡하냐고요 ㅋㅋ 너무 이뻐요~
So it's really funny, but I'm supposed to be there as like a representative of the USA because I'm an ENGLISH teacher from AMERICA....but nobody thinks of me that way xD If anything, I have become the Korean representative xD A bunch of my 8th grade girls like to greet me in Korean instead of English xD The Japanese English teacher finds it hilarious. Now in class, he'll ask me what the Korean is for some of the new vocabulary. It's very interesting xD
진짜 웃긴데, 제가 영어 선생님으로써, 사실 미국대표예요 ㅋㅋ 학생들한테 미국을 소개하는 역할인데....아무도 그렇게 생각하지는 않아요 ㅋㅋ 무엇보단 그냥 한국 대표로 생각해요 ㅋㅋ 중2 여자들 몇 명은 이제는 영어로 인사하지 않고, 한국말로 인사해요 ㅋㅋ 저 멀리서 "안녕! 안녕!" 소리 지르면서 뛰어와요 ㅋㅋ 일본인 영어 선생은 이게 너무 재밌게 봐요 ㅋㅋ 이제는 가끔 수업중에 새로운 단어 배울때, "한국말로는 어떻게 말해?" 물어봐요 ㅋㅋ

그리고 너 웃긴건, 전 학생들한테 트와이스 대표가 됐어요 ㅋㅋ
Anything related to TWICE they come to tell me. When TWICE is doing something, a bunch of junior high students always come to tell me xD I have one 5th grader who found out that I also like TWICE, so now every time she sees me, she starts doing TWICE dances. It's so funny and so adorable at the same time xD
트와이스에 대한 뭐든 것을 저한테 얘기해요 ㅋㅋ 트와이스가 일본에서 이거한다 저가한다 ㅋㅋ 한 5학년 여자애는 저도 토와이스를 좋아한다는 걸 알고나서 저 볼때마다 트와이스 춤을 춰요. 너무 웃기면서 귀여워용~~

I guess they just can't grasp the idea of an Asian American xD But then again, I'm probably not the best person to represent what an Asian American is....I've lived a pretty unique life. I didn't have the usual Asian American experience.
그냥 아시아계 미국인이라는 것을 이해를 못 하는 거 같아요...근데 제가 아마 제일 좋은 대표는 아닐거예요 ㅋㅋ 제가 워낙 특별한 인생을 살아 왔기 때문에, 제가 일반적인 아사아계 미국인 경험을 못했어요..
But I really don't mind xD I'm happy that they're interested in me, rather than being indifferent to me being there.

We just passed the rainy season,

and a very crazy one at that. We had a very serious flood warning 2 weeks ago....I don't think I've seen that much rain ever. It was very overwhelming xD
진짜 심한 장마 시즌... 2 주 전엔 심각한 홍수 경보있었어요....생에 그렇게 심한 비는 처음 본 거 같아요 ㅋㅋ
But all that's left from here on is the hot and humid, summer days....that I'm not looking forward to. I do not like the heat and I do not like humidity. I also thought it was a good idea to cut my bangs a few weeks ago....so we'll see how I'm able to style my hair in this heat...
이제부터는 덥고 습한 여름날만 있네요....기대 하나도 안 되네요 ㅋㅋ 저는 더운 날씨 싫고, 습한 거도 진짜 싫어오ㅠㅠ 그리고 얼마전에 앞머리 잘랐는데...왜 잘랐는지ㅠㅠ 앞으로 어떻게 스타일링할지 걱정이에요ㅠㅠ

And I hope to update this blog regularly....and I know that I say this all the time xD But I'm really going to try. Summer vacation is just around the corner and I plan to do a lot of fun things! So please look forward to them~
