My New Room

After 5 long years, I've finally gotten my own room! In celebration of that, I thought I'd give you a a Room Tour!
드디어 5년만에 제 방이 생겼습니다! 그 기념으로, 방 투어 하겠습니다~
I know what you're thinking. "What do you mean you FINALLY got your own room? Did you not have a room before?" Obviously I did have a room, I just shared it with my mom.
무슨 생각하는지 알아요. "뭔 얘기냐? 이제 방 생꼈다고? 전엔 방이 없었어?" 당연히 방 있었죠, 그냥 엄마랑 같이 썼어요.
When we first moved here to California in 2011, we moved to a pretty expensive town. My aunt had just moved there as well following rumors that the schools there were good (which they were. So many smart Korean kids xD) and recommended it to my dad.
2011년에, 처음 캘리포니아로 이사왔을때, 좀 비싼 동내로 이사왔어요. 고모가 거기 학교 좋다고해서, 우리 아빠한테 추천을 했어요.
But because demand was so high, we barely managed to get a 2-bedroom, 1.5 bath apartment. Rent was around $1600 a month, but by the time we left, it was over $2100. Originally, the plan was just to stay for a bit and then find a house. Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen circumstances and the ridiculous housing prices in that neighborhood (almost half a million for a 2-bedroom house!), we ended up staying there for 5 years. My parents didn't want to move because my brother was still in high school.
원악 사람이 많이 와서, 찾다찾다 겨우 방 2짜리 아파트로 이사갔어요. 렌트가 1달에 ~1750000₩이였었는데, 떠날때는 ~2300000₩ 넘었어요. 원래는 잠깐 살고, 바로 다른 집으로 이사갈려고 기획했는데, 예상 못 한 일들 이 생기면서, 5년 동안 살게 됬어요. 그리고, 동생이 고딩이라 중간에 전학시키는게 싫었어요.
But since he graduated this past summer, we finally moved out! We moved out of that neighborhood, but only about 20-30 minutes away.
근데 지난 6월에 졸업했니깐, 드디어 이사했어요! 그 동내를 떠나야됬는데, 그래도 20-30분 거리 밖에 안되요.
So now we live in a small, 4-bedroom house. I got the room at the far end of the hallway.
이제는, 방 4개! 저는 제일 끝 방을 선택했어요.
It's quite small, and when I moved in, the walls were green and blue. This is the picture from the real estate listing, I just blurred out the name that was on the wall. While the blue was okay in person, the green wasn't. In the picture it's a nice minty green. In real life, it was more of a mossy green tone. On top of that, my room is the only one that doesn't get any direct sunlight so the colors were darker.
방이 크지않아요. 좀 작죠.. 이사할때, 벽이 초록/하늘색이였어요. 보동산 사진인데, 보시면, 패턴이였어요: 하늘-초록-하늘-초록. 사진에는 생갈이 괜찮았는데, 실째로는 진~~~짜 별로였어요. 사진에는 옅은 하늘색과 민트 초록인데, 그냥 볼때는 훨씬 어두웠어요. 그리고 제 방이 유일하게 햇빛이 안 들어오거든요...그래서 더더더 비기싫었어요.
There was no way I was going to keep that wall color. It just wasn't "me". So the day after moving in, I went straight to Orchard and bought a gallon of paint.
그래서 결심했죠. 도저히 이렇게 살 수 없다! 이사 다음 날, 바로 가서 페이트 샀습니다.
I bought the Benjamin Moore color "Pink Cloud," number 887 I think, and it was perfect~ It's a very faint, light shade of pink.
색갈은 "핑크 클라우드" 라고, 아주 옅은 핑크 색.
For imagination purposes, you can think of it as being similar to the Pink x White Nintendo 3DS XL. It's like a shade lighter.
1 gallon covered about 3.25/4 walls, and I finished painting that much in a few hours. So I had to go back to Orchard and get another batch of paint. I only needed maybe .5 gallon because I still had to do retouches on the walls I already painted, but apparently they don't carry half gallons. The worker told me that I could get two quarts, but suggested that I just get the full gallon because the price was practically the same. So I got the gallon...and now I have a half gallon of pink paint sitting in my garage xD
Because my room is so small, I didn't want to get too much furniture. I didn't have a bed when we first moved in, so I just put in my desk and my dresser. By then, practically half the room was filled. So I made the decision to get a smaller bed. I got a twin size bed...which is a lot smaller than the queen size I've always had. But it's the perfect size for my room, and for me! Even with all my stuffed animals, there's enough room for me and that's all that matters~
방이 원악 작아서, 뭘 많이 넣고 싶지 않더라고요. 이사했을 때는 아직 침대가 없어서, 서랍 하고 책상만 넣는데, 방 한 반 정도 채웠어요 ㅋㅋ 그래서 어쩔 수 없이, 작은 침대를 사게 됬어요. 혼자니깐, 자리가 충분해요!
I'm planning to keep my walls plain for the most part. I bought some really cute clips from yozocraft.com and I'm going to hang a few pictures. Like I said, I really like the color of my walls, so I don't really want to cover it up with unnecessary things.
페인트 색이 너무 좋아서, 벽에 뭘 많이 안 걸려고해요. 얼마 전에 귀여운 클립 샀는데, 이쁜 사진만 몇개 걸건데, 그 외에는 안 걸려고요.
As if to make up for the lack of big furniture in my room, I have so many little things. It was so hard unpacking because I had so much stuff.
Thank goodness for all the space and cubbies I have on my desk. I have so much stuff, even when I clean it still looks messy xD I enjoy figurines and dolls, so I try to include them in wherever I can xD
책상에 자라가 많아서 다행이에요 ㅋㅋ 물건이 너무 많다 보니깐, 정리해서 엉망칭찬! ㅋㅋ 책상은 공부하는 곳인데, 저는 피규어랑 메모랑 여러가지 물건으로 채웠습니다~ ㅋㅋ
Here is my window~ As you can see, I don't have much of a view. Also, because of the rooftop covering I don't get any direct sunlight into my room, which is kinda disappointing. I literally have to have my light on all day because it's darker in my room than the rest of the house.
여기는 창문~ 보시다시피, 볼거 없어요. 지붕 커버 때문에 햇빛이 안 들어와요...조금 실망했어요. 다름 방들은 다 밝은데, 제 방은 하루종일 불 켜야되요.
Because I don't have any curtains yet, my window is very bare and plain. So this was my attempt to decorate xD Starting with my GOT7 Jackson fans from Japan~ These are so big that they won't fit anywhere. So I have no other option but to but them on display~ I have some Hello Kitty figures. I think they are actually chopstick holders, but I've always just used them as figures xD I also put my Harajuku Lovers perfume bottles.
아직 커튼이 없어서, 창문이 너무 텅텅 비여써요. 뭔가 부족했어요. 그래서 뭐라도 올려 낳야겠다 해서, 올렸어요 ㅋㅋ 제일 끝에는 갓세븐 잭슨 부채! 하나는 베프가 보내주고, 하나는 제가 모리아갓떼요 투어때 샀어요~ 너무 커서 어디다가 못 넣요. 그래서 어쩔 수 없이 이랗게 나둬야됬어요~ ㅋㅋ 그리고 키티 피규어랑 하라주쿠 러버스 향수병!
Then I have some pictures~ I always buy photo prints and I've always wanted to display my pictures, so I'm fulfilling that dream! I need to get a few more frames so I can fill the window sill...but everything is so expensive for my budget ㅠㅠ so this will have to do for now...
다음은 사진~ 저는 항상 사진 프린트 사요. 그리고 이쁘게 포장하고 전시하고 싶었는데, 자리가 없어서 못했어요. 이제는 자리가 생겨서 많이 할려고요~ ㅋㅋ
This is the top of my dresser. As you can see it's still a mess xD I need to go to Daiso or somewhere to get some containers..
여기는 서랍 위. 아직도 엉망이에요 ㅋㅋ 다이소나 어디가서 이쁜 통이나 뭐 사야되겠어요.
Since I don't have a place to put my makeup, I had to settle for this. I mean, I guess it's not bad, but It's not as pretty as I would like. I still need to buy new containers for my jewelry anyway, so I'm planning on getting new makeup containers too.
지금은 화장을 이렇게 놨어요 ㅋㅋ 나쁘지 않은데, 뭔가 마음이 안 들어요...지저분하고. 어차피 악세서리 통 사야되니깐, 화장 통도 사야죠.
So that's it~ xD I'm still in the process of unpacking. I know I still have a few boxes in the garage that I have to unpack...but I think I'll take my time with those. As you probably can tell, I don't have much more room. I don't know where I'm going to put all my other stuff, but that's something I can worry about later xD
그렇게 해서 방 투어 끝! ㅋㅋ 아직 짐을 플고있지만, 나머지는 중요하지 않아요 ㅋㅋ 가라지에 박스 몇개 남았는데...천천히 플면되죠 ㅋㅋ
