Photo Haul pt 1: Yopo Photo Lens

Monday, February 16, 2015

Not too long ago, I was on Amazon looking for a book I needed for one of my classes and noticed that most of my "Recommendations" section was of camera stuff. I ended up buying a lot more than just a textbook xD
I had a mini Photography Haul!
Lenses for my phone, filters and a remote for my Nikon.
Lately, I've been interested in getting into cellphone photography (is that even a thing?). I always have my phone with me and it's just easier to take pictures. As much as I would like to, I can't carry around my Nikon wherever I go. I'd probably ruin it even more that I already have ㅠㅠ (my cracked screenㅠㅠ). Anyway, I've been using camera apps on my phone (mainly B612 and VSCO Cam) and they've made my pictures very nice, but I wanted to take it a step further. After reading countless reviews, I decided on getting the Yopo LQ-003 3-in-One Photo Lens set.
On both the box and the info pamphlet, it says that this lens set can be used on your mobile phone, notebook PC, and iPad. I actually tried it on my computer when I was video chatting with a friend last night. It works really well. I don't think I'll really use it with anything other than my phone, but it's reassuring to know that it works the way it's supposed to.
This is what comes in the box. The three lenses (two to them are attached to each other), lens caps, the lens clip, and a carrying bag.
Fisheye: Approximately 180° Field-of-View.
Screws on to the macro lens as a precision set.
First, the Fisheye lens!
I have to figure out how to put the lens on properly. I always put it too far to one side and it messes the picture up. I think I'll use this lens when I'm trying to get a more artsy, unique shot. It's really fun to use~
Macro: Incredible Focal distance of 1/2" (13mm)
for some amazing 10X macro shots.
Next, the Macro lens! I had a bit of a hard time getting this lens one. So the Fisheye lens screws onto the top of the Macro lens. I was afraid of breaking it when I was trying to unscrew them.
Straight off the back, I know that I won't be using the macro lens very often. In order for it to work, you have to be 1-2 cm from your subject. Being that close to the subject, any slight, sudden movement causes the image to be blurry. I honestly have no plans of taking macro shots in the first place.
Super wide 0.4X: Expands the native viewing anble by 4X.
The maximum angle: 140
°.
High quality technical image effect.
Lastly, the Super wide lens! This lens is the reason why I bought this lens set.
This is my favorite of the three lenses. I've always wanted a wide angle lens for my Nikon but as a non-working student, it's not something that I can easily afford. I don't think I'll ever be able to afford most of the things I want ㅠㅠ I like this lens a lot because I can use this instead of my selfie stick when I'm out in public xD

For $17.68, I think this was a pretty good deal, especially since the original price was $49.99 (thank goodness for Amazon Student xD). The picture on the box and site show that the lens was clipped on the back camera, but I clipped mine onto the front camera instead. I don't like placing my phone face down on surfaces. I don't like the potential transfer of germs from the surface to my face... That's just gross.

But anyway~ I really like these lenses. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures using these and I'll post them for all to see~
