Happy Chri Day
Saturday, October 09, 2021This October 5, I turned 26! It's honestly crazy to think that I came to Japan when I was 22, and this is already my fourth birthday here.
이번 10월 5일, 제가 만 26살이 되었습니다! 제가 만 22살에 일본으로 왔는데 벌써 네 번째 생일이에요.
Since my birthday fell on a weekday, I decided to have a little party during the weekend before. Here's my Chri Day celebration
이번에는 생일이 평일이어서 전 주말에 작은 생파했어요. 크리 데이를 이렇게 보냈어요~
Year 25 was quite the event. It was the 2nd year of the pandemic, the year I started (and as of August, finished) my master's degree, my 2nd year of not seeing my family, another move, and a lot of emotional stress. But at the same time, it was the year that I really grew to love myself.
이 지난 해가 여러 가지 일이 있었죠. 팬데믹 2년째였고, 석사 시작했고 (그리고 8원에 끝났고), 가족 못 본 지 2년 넘었고, 또 이사 갔고, 마음 스트레스도 좀 있었죠. 근데, 25살 자신을 더 사랑하게 되었어요.
It wasn't that I didn't before. Just during this year, I think I matured a lot. I learned a lot about a ton of different things~
전에는 사랑하지 않았다는 건 아니에요. 그냥, 지난 1년에 많이 성장해서 여러 가지 많이 배웠어요.
In celebration of this growth, I though it would be fun to have a small party by myself! The overall celebration was definitely for my birthday, but it was also a celebration of a good year and of looking forward to the next.
그 성장의 기념에 파티를 하면 재밌을 거 같았어요. 당연히 메인은 생일이었는데, 좋은 일 년을 축하하고 내년도 좋기를 바라는 날이었어요.
As with any party, you gotta dress up! With nowhere to go, I rarely get to get all fancied up~ I think the last time I did this was New Years. So it had been so long since I put on a full face of makeup. I never had a real elaborate makeup routine, so my old makeup look and my current one (with the masks) isn't very different. But I do miss wearing blush and highlighter.
파티하면 꾸며야죠~ 요즘에 진짜 갈 때가 없어서 꾸밀 기회가 없어요. 마지막은 새해 파티 때였던 거 같아요. 풀 메이크업 한지가 너무 오래됐어요. 처음부터 화장 많이 한 사람이 아니어서 전 메이크업 스타일이 지금 거랑 그렇게 다르지 않았어요. 근데 블러셔랑 하이라이트 하는 게 너무 그리웠어요~
The first course of the party was food!
파티에 시작은 음식이죠!
The menu was pasta~ I didn't actually cook anything. I prepared the pasta and warmed up a sauce packet I had. During the summer I hurt myself and couldn't go grocery shopping. So I had ordered a bunch of microwavable and/or easy to make food. This was a Vongole Bianca pasta~ Not my favorite, but not bad.
메뉴는 파스타~ 솔직히 말하면, 제가 요리한 게 아니에요 ㅋㅋ 그냥 인스턴트 파스타. 여름에 다쳐서, 장을 못 본 날이 많았어요. 그때 인터넷에서 빠르고, 쉽게 만들 수 있는 음식을 많이 샀어요. 이 파스타는 봉고레 비앙코였어요~ 나쁘지 않았어요.
To accompany my meal, I had a nice chuhai! When it comes to alcohol, I'm definitely a soju kind of girl~ But seeing as how I had my party in the middle of the day, I wasn't really feeling soju. I love Horoyoi drinks. The cans are always super cute, and the flavors are really good! I think I found my new favorite~ This honey lemon flavor was really good. It was basically a Sprite.
음료는 츄하이로 했어요! 술이면, 전 소주가 좋아요~ 근데 낮에 파티한 거였으니깐, 소주가 땡기지 않았어요. 제가 호로요이가 진짜 좋아해요. 캔이 항상 귀엽고, 맛도 진짜 좋아요! 이번에 새로운 맛이 나왔는데, 너무 맛있었어요~ 그냥 사이다 맛! ㅋㅋ
If this was an actual party, this would be the time to socialize with other people. Since it was a solo party, I had no one to talk to and had to keep myself entertained. The best way to do that is to watch something~
진짜 파티였으면, 사람이랑 소통하면서 시간은 보냈을 텐데, 혼자였으니깐 혼자서 어떻게 놀아야 했어요. 제일 좋은 건 뭘 보는 거죠~
I finally got around to watching Squid Game! I'm always putting off watching dramas because I have the bad tendency to binge watch. But I needed something to watch and this was all over social media. I totally get the hype. It's so good!
드디어 오징어 게임 봤어요! 저는 드라마를 잘 안 봐요. 항상 한 번에 다 보고 싶어서 시작하면 하루 종일 봐요 ㅋㅋ 근데 요즘 SNS에서 다 오징어 게임 얘기하고 있어서, 저도 봐야겠다 했어요. 근데 왜 이렇게 인기 있었는지 알겠더라고요. 진짜 재밌었어요!
A few episodes in, it was time for the party's main event: Birthday Cake!
몇 회 보다가, 파티의 메인이벤트였어요: 생일 케이크!
I ordered a cake for the first time since coming to Japan. The reason I got one this year, is that I saw a post on Instagram about design cakes. My timing was lucky and I found a cute shop that was going to have new stock just a few days after I found it. It was the YUcake shop (link: Instagram). They're cakes are very simple, but super cute!
일본 와서 처음으로 생일 케이크 주문했어요. 이번에 산 이유는, 인스타에 이쁜 케이크가 너무 많은 거예요. 딱 타이밍이 좋아서 한 가게가 새로운 재고품이 들어온다는 거예요. YUcake샵 (link: Instagram) 이었어요. 디자인이 심플한데 너무 귀여워요!
When I ordered, there were seven designs, each with the option of the original message (Happy Day) or a custom message. I wanted a Happy Chri Day cake. Since these are hand made cakes, there is a pretty limited stock. I got on to the site right as the sales opened, and by the time I clicked the checkout button, it was sold out. Thankfully, I was still able to get my desired design.
제가 주문했을 때 디자인 7개 있었어요, 한 디자인 당 옵션이 2개: 기본 메시지, 커스텀 메시지. 저는 커스텀 케이크를 원했어요. 딱 Happy Chri Day였으면 좋았을 텐데. 아무래도 수제품이라 많지는 않더라고요. 판매가 딱 시작할 때 주문하려고 했는데, 커스텀이 매진이 됐어요. 근데 원하는 디자인 살 수 있어서 그거로 만족했어요.
The cake was super cute! Unfortunately, there was some damage upon arrival. It was a sunny day, so I guess even though the delivery man kept it in the cooler, it melted a bit. There were a few cracks, but it actually added flair to the design.
케이크가 너무 이뻤어요! 아쉽게도 손상이 좀 있었어요. 날씨가 아직 더워서 그랬나 봐요. 좀 갈라졌는데, 오히려 디자인인 거 같았어요.
The taste was alright. It was your standard plain cake with cream, nothing special. It would've been great if there were some fruit, but I paid for the design, not the flavor.
맛은 괜찮았어요. 그냥 크림 케이크. 과일 있었으면 진짜 좋았을 텐데, 제가 산 건 맛이 아니라 디자인이었으니깐 ㅋㅋ
With any birthday, there has to be presents! This year, I got myself two:

나이키 코트 비전 알타 크림 색은 샀어요.
I love Nike shoes, but they're so expensive. I often look at the site just to see what new designs they have. I happened upon the black versions of these and thought they were super cute. When I saw these ones, I absolutely fell in love! They were originally over ￥8000, but because I had a 20% off birthday coupon, I was able to get them for ￥6600. It was honestly a good deal!
저는 나이키 신발 진짜 좋아하는데, 항상 너무 비싸요. 재미로 사이트 구경 자주 해요. 처음에는 이 신발 블랙 디자인 봤는데 너무 이뻤는데, 크림 색이 진짜 너무 이쁜 거예요! 완전 사랑에 빠졌어요~ 원래는 85,000원 넘었는데, 20% 생일 할인 있어서 70,000원에 살 수 있었어요~ 완전 굿 딜!

I've been dabbling in vlogging for a bit now. I'm still not sure if I'm going to be a serious vlogger, but it is definitely a fun idea to consider~
제가 요즘 브이로그에 관심이 생겼어요. 진정한 유튜버될 생각이 없는데, 재밌어요~
I finally got vaccinated, so I'm hoping to be able to do a bit more this next year. Now I know that just because I'm vaccinated it doesn't make me invincible, but I gives me a sense of reassurance. Hopefully I will have the chance to go to some cool places and document them :)
드디어 백신 다 맞아서, 이제 좀 놀고 돌아다니고 싶어요. 백신 맞았다고 백퍼 안전하다는 보장이 없는데, 그래도 좀 안심이 되더라고요. 이제 좀 이쁜 곳 많이 가서 이쁜 영상 많이 찍을 수 있으면 좋겠네요~ :)
And so, here's to year 26! I know there's a lot to come and while I'm nervous, I'm sure it'll be a great one!
Overall, I'd say that it was a good day! My actual birthday was pretty meh, so I'm glad that I got to have a nice time to celebrate.
전체적으로 진짜 재밌는 날이었어요! 생일날은 평범한 화요일이어서 좀 재미없었어요. 그래서 전에 재밌게 놀 수 있었다는 게 다행이에요 ㅋㅋ
이젠 26살을 즐겨야죠! 앞으로 많은 일이 있을 텐데, 긴장하면서도 너무 기대돼요. 좋은 해가 되기를~
